Group Classes for Socialization, Obedience & Skill Building!

My group dog training classes, offered in partnership with Seth Hutson of Pawsitively Great Dog Training, provide a fantastic opportunity for your dog to learn essential manners, practice skills around distractions, and socialize in a safe, structured, and positive environment. Whether you have a young puppy eager to explore the world or an adult dog ready to sharpen their obedience, our classes offer something for everyone.

Why Socialization is Key to a Happy, Confident Dog

I firmly believe in the lifelong benefits of proper socialization. As world-renowned veterinarian and dog trainer Dr. Ian Dunbar emphasizes:

• Social exposure is “crucial for their development”

• Puppyhood is the “most critical time”

• A well-socialized dog is a “happy and confident dog”

The most important thing you can do for your puppy is socialize them safely and positively as early as possible. While early socialization is critical, dogs of all ages benefit from ongoing positive exposure to new experiences and appropriate interactions.

Group classes also teach dogs invaluable lessons in canine communication – how to “speak dog” with each other. They learn what is acceptable play, how to read body language, and how to navigate interactions with other dogs, which is a skill we humans can't directly teach.

All group classes listed below are held at Pet Supplies Plus, 25658 The Old Road, Stevenson Ranch, facilitated by Seth Hutson of Pawsitively Great Dog Training, with Susann from Focus Four Paws assisting and co-teaching. We work together to ensure a positive and productive experience for all!

Puppy Socialization: Safe, supervised off-leash play and positive exposure to new sights, sounds, and other puppies. We'll introduce basic manners and help you navigate common puppy challenges. (Ages: Up to 5/6 months)

Basic Obedience (Small Dogs / Large Dogs): Learn foundational obedience cues like sit, down, stay, come, and loose-leash walking. We focus on building reliable behaviors and a strong owner-dog connection. Class divided by dog size for comfort and safety. (Ages: Up to 9 months)

AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC): Prepare for the AKC CGC test! This class refines good manners and teaches reliable obedience in the presence of distractions, focusing on the 10 test items. (Ages: Over 9 months)

Adventure Training: Take your dog's skills to the next level after they earn their AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, with fun challenging activities in various environments (or focused on novel stimuli). Builds confidence, strengthens your bond, and provides excellent practice in public places to enable you to take your canine companion out anywhere without incident. (Ages: Over 1 year)

Must be up to date on vaccinations to attend group classes. Safety is our priority.

All classes are at Pet Supplies Plus, 25658 The Old Road, Stevenson Ranch, with the exception of the Adventure Training class which has rotating public locations.

5:30pm: Puppy Socialization (Age: Up to 5/6 months | Size: Any)

WEDNESDAY

5:30pm: Basic Obedience (Small Dogs) (Age: Up to 9 months | Size: Under 30 lbs)
7:00pm: AKC Canine Good Citizen (Age: Over 9 months | Size: Any)

THURSDAY

5:30pm: Basic Obedience (Large Dogs) (Age: Up to 9 months | Size: Over 40 lbs)
7:00pm: Adventure Training (Age: Over 1 year | Size: Any)

SATURDAY

10:30am: Puppy Socialization (Age: Up to 5/6 months | Size: Any)
12:00pm: Basic Obedience (Age: Over 9 months | Size: Any)
